07 Aug Vote For Pedro – Bringing the Cult Classic T-Shirt to New Life
We all know Napoleon Dynamite, whether you’ve seen the entire movie, just heard of it by name or seen something from it – his expression when saying “GAWD”, the goofy and iconic dance or even the Vote for Pedro t-shirt put together for class president election. As a simple, cult-classic icon from a movie, tied together with a whole different kind of Pedro, this became our first recreation of clothing from cinema.
I think Napoleon Dynamite is a hilarious and heartwarming movie that captures the awkwardness and wonder of adolescence. The Vote for Pedro campaign is a perfect example of how even the most unlikely underdog can achieve great things, whether applying the underdog to the likes of GoKatMe as a fledgling clothing/design brand or Pedro Pascal going from underdog to meteoric rise to fame in this is up to you, I love the way the movie celebrates the outsider and the misfit. Napoleon and Pedro are both outsiders in their own way, but they find each other and form a strong friendship. Together, they embark on a journey of self-discovery and friendship.
The Vote for Pedro campaign is a reminder that anyone can make a difference, no matter how small they may seem. Pedro is a quiet and unassuming kid, but he has a big heart and a lot of determination. He runs for class president on a platform of hope and change, and he ultimately succeeds in winning the election. The campaign is a reminder that we should never underestimate the power of one person to make a difference. It’s also a reminder that even the smallest act of kindness can have a ripple effect that changes the world. Now if that isn’t reason enough to make it info something new then adding a genuinely infectious and brilliantly cheerful character like Pedro Pascal into the mix definitely puts the cherry on the cake! It had to be done.
I think the Vote for Pedro campaign is a powerful message that is still relevant today. In a world that is often divided and full of confusion, it’s important to remember that we are all connected. We can all make a difference, and we should never give up on our dreams. Well, I’m glad this little dream became a reality.
As a project this quickly became something funny and relatable, loving the message and direction from the original Vote for Pedro campaign & loving all the work Pedro Pascal does made sense to cross the two ideas together and bring new life to the cult classic. The love for this little project caused intrigue and interest in pursuing this task in other circles of cinema and television, trying to find those designs and bring life to something worn on screen (even if only very briefly).
